{"id":3040,"date":"2020-05-14T06:49:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T06:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arcsncurves.com\/clients\/azhd_v5\/?p=3040"},"modified":"2023-10-04T11:58:43","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T07:58:43","slug":"facts-about-adhd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/backup.azhd.ae\/?p=3040","title":{"rendered":"Facts about ADHD"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attention-deficit\/hyperactivity disorder (AD\/HD or ADHD)<br \/><br \/>It is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder, affecting preschoolers, children, adolescents, and adults, characterized by impulsiveness and inattention, with or without a component of hyperactivity<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Acting before thinking of consequences<\/li>\r\n<li>jumping from one activity to another<\/li>\r\n<li>disorganization<\/li>\r\n<li>tendency to interrupt others\u2019 conversations<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hyperactivity\u2028Restlessness, often characterized by inability to sit still, fidgeting, squirminess, climbing, on things, restless sleep<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inattention\u2028Easily distracted\u2028day dreaming\u2028not finishing work\u2028difficulty listening\u2028motor clumsiness<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Population surveys suggest that ADHD occurs in most cultures in about\u00a05-8% of children\u00a0and about\u00a02.5% of adults<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">symptoms are difficult to distinguish from highly variable normative behaviors\u00a0before age 4 years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Symptoms must be present by the age of 12 years<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are 3 subtypes instead of 2, combined, predominant inattentive, and predominant hyperactive\/impulsive<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ADHD is more frequent in males than in females in the general population, with a ratio of approximately 2:1 in children and 1.6:1 in adults.
